Placing an Order

Ordering at organically is simple:

  • Just click on the 'Add to Basket' buttons that will take you to an external Shopping Basket page.

  • You can remove or add items there.

  • The P&P charge (see below) is also automatically calculated every time you add an item and this is clearly shown.

  • When you have completed the order, click on the 'Checkout' page.

  • At 'Checkout' you could choose whether to pay by cheque, postal order (UK only) or with a credit/debit card.

  • There is no need to register an account, or log in, etc. because the folk at organically hate having to do this when they themselves shop online.

Paying by Credit/Debit Card

organically accepts online payments with all major credit/debit cards via the following Payment Service Providers (PSPs):

At the Checkout page, you could choose to pay with either PayPal using the "Checkout with PayPal" button (if you already have a PayPal account) or Nochex by clicking on the "Checkout" button. You will be directed to their own secure websites.

If you did not choose the "PayPal" option, you will be asked to give your personal details on the next page. At the bottom of the page is the list of payment options (including PayPal again). You do not have to sign up for either a PayPal or Nochex account in order to pay.

At some point or other you would come across this message: 'This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?'. Don't panic.

The 'nonsecure items' refers to the organically store logo which has not been stored on a 'secure site'. One has to pay a fee to do so, which organically has not done. However, the rest of the page is secure, and you can tell this by the padlock on the bottom of your screen or, if you have an updated version of Internet Explorer, the padlock appears next to the URL address bar at the top of the page. Just press 'Yes' and complete your personal and card details as required.

Paying via PayPal

If you choose to "Checkout with PayPal" and have a PayPal account, the process will be slightly faster. The downside to this is PayPal does not even tell us your title (Mr, Miss, Ms, etc).

You can also choose PayPal as the payment gateway even when you do not have a PayPal account.

We ask that customers avoid using PayPal eCheque. These cheques take up to nine working days to clear. We cannot despatch your order till the eCheque is cleared.

Paying via Nochex

Nochex will allow payments of up to £100. You will be required to open a Nochex account IF you attempt to pay more than that. Should you require this facility, or have any queries about payment, please get in touch with shopkeeper@organic-ally.co.uk.

Do note that on your card statement, it is the 'Nochex' name that would show up and not 'Organic-Ally™'.

Using Your PIN

Sometimes your PIN might be requested. This is an additional feature, added recently by some banks, to prevent fradulent use of your card. We have been assured that it is safe to use your PIN. If you have any reservations, you are most welcome to pay by Cheque or Postal Order.

Occasional Difficulties with Online Payments

Occasionally, online transactions cannot be completed. We understand the frustration this might cause. This usually happens when the PSP is unable to validate your email address or if the PSP software is not able to 'talk' instantly with the shopping cart (Roman Cart) software, especially when there is high traffic volume. Also, 'hotmail' and 'yahoo' users seem to encounter most difficulties.

Please accept our sincere apology when this happens. You could either switch to the alternative PSP or, like many customers, decide to pay by cheque (see below). When your Confirmation Email comes through, the items you have ordered will be set aside for you.

UK customers can now also choose to pay by BACS/Bank Transfer. See below for details.

However, if you decide that you'd still prefer to pay with a credit/debit card, feel free to complete that order again, perhaps at a different time of day, and send us an email to void your first cheque order. The benefit of doing this is you don't need to bother with posting us a cheque, and we can despatch items in stock immediately.

Paying by Cheque/Postal Order (UK Customers Only)

organically also welcomes payment by cheque and Postal Orders (in Sterling Pounds). You simply have to fill in your details as you would with any website order. Click on the "Pay by Cheque" or "Pay by Postal Order" option. On-screen instructions will give you the address you need to send the cheque/Postal Order to, or see below.

You might wish to print out a copy of your invoice for your own record, although this is not necessary as a confirmation email will be sent after you have completed your Checkout. We will despatch your order as soon as your cheque to us is cleared or when the Postal Order is cashed. In the event that an item is out of stock, we will get in touch as soon as possible with further advice.

Cheques should be made payable to 'Organic-Ally' and sent to:

Organic-Ally, 118 Nibthwaite Road, Harrow, Middlesex HA1 1TG.

Postal Orders should be made payable to 'S P Lee' and sent to the same address as above. Please DO NOT cross the Postal Order and this could then only be cashed at a bank at substantial cost to us.

Confirmation of Orders

Whether you choose to make a cheque or online payment, an email confirmation will be sent to you at the conclusion of your transaction. Please check that the details are correct. Email us as soon as possible if any details need changing (eg a wrong post code).

Postage and Packaging

The products at organically range greatly in weight and bulk. We feel it is not fair for the customer of very light items (eg a single string bag) to pay a standard £3.95 P&P as many other retailers do. Instead we have calculated P&P according to weight and bulk to be as fair as possible to as many customers as possible.

Every time you add an item to your 'Shopping Basket', the P&P is automatically calculated for you so you can see exactly how much you are being charged. There is no need to wait to get to the Checkout page. Orders of £70 and over are despatched FREE of P&P charge.

Royal Mail (without any fanfare, as usual) put up their postal charges every on/around the 6th April. Instead of raising P&P charges, we are using Second Class post where possible.

Due to the closure of the sub-Post Office within walking distance we now split some orders into smaller parts so that they fit into a local post box. Thanks to customer feedback, this appears to be a very 'reliable' post box. Larger items which do not fit into a post box are usually despatched on Tuesdays and Fridays to avoid having to use the car.

P&P structure for the rest of the world has not been set up. If you are outside the UK/Europe/EU, or have any trouble at Checkout, please email us shopkeeper@organic-ally.co.uk to tell us exactly what you would like to order. We would check out the delivery charges, making sure that you only pay the minimum necessary, and then email you a payment link that would allow you to pay with a credit/debit card.

Most of our products now come unpackaged by the suppliers. However, some of our goods do require plastic packaging and padding to prevent damage in transit. Every attempt is made to use eco-friendly packaging which has either been recycled, has a high recycled content, or which can be re-used and/or biodegradable.

Delivery to an Alternative Address

If you ordered a Box of Hankies or a Bundle of String Bags, the parcels will be too large to go into your letterbox. If you are likely to be out when the postal worker calls and you wish to avoid the inconvenience of having to pick up your parcel at a Post Office Sorting Office/Depot, or losing it altogether as some postal workers have the habit of leaving larger packets outside the house, or even if you live in a building where access might be difficult or security erratic, do leave us an alternative address (eg a neighbour's, your work-place) or other specific instructions.

Just give us the details in Delivery Address when you get to Checkout. When paying with Nochex/PayPal, you might be prompted for a different delivery address again. If you have already stated the delivery address before, there is no need to do this again. .

However, do please, please check that this alternative address is correct when you receive your confirmation email. It is so easy to make a mistake. organically will NOT be responsible for items lost due to customers supplying an incorrect address.

We often get instructions like "Leave parcel by the white gate/behind blue box/in the brown urn if no one is at home". Please note that when such instructions are given we are not responsible for replacing the order should it be lost.

Delivery Standards

What customers say about our service

Being a very small set-up at the moment we pride ourselves in being able to offer a personal, prompt and friendly service. We will attempt to despatch items that are in stock as soon as possible after we have received payment from you.

Since the closure of the local sub-post office, however, we sometimes have to split the order into two or more lots so that they could go into the nearby post-box instead of driving to the nearest post office. Larger items which do not fit into a post box are usually despatched on Tuesdays and Fridays to avoid having to use the car.

Please allow up to seven days for delivery after receipt of your payment. Contact us as soon as possible if your order does not arrive within ten days of your order.

Back-orders, however, are a different story. We normally have fairly good stock control and the website will give clear information as to what is available. On rare occasions, some items might be out of stock for reasons beyond our control. As most of our products are made by workers in co-operatives and not mass-produced, stock could take weeks to be replenished. Rest assured that we will give you the details should this happen and furnish you with a list of options as to what action to take.

Returns

Due to the nature of the hankies, face cloths and napkins, we will only accept the return of these goods if they are faulty and returned within seven days upon receipt of your order. Other goods can be returned, also within seven days upon receipt of your order, and refunded if they are returned unused, in good order and resaleable in its original packing. Simply email us for instructions on how to return goods.

We cannot afford to pay for the postage of goods being returned. Sorry.

Mailing and Privacy

Perhaps, like me, you hate being swamped with junk mail. I used to shop a lot via catalogue and online. But the paper and emails that then come through has stopped me from buying from new retailers. At organically we believe in "doing to others what we want others to do to us". At the moment we do not have paper catalogues to send out. If you think someone you know might benefit from looking through this website, please either send us their email, or "recommend this site to a friend" (see below).

For the same reason, we do not run competitions to 'harvest' names and emails for marketing purposes. However, we do send out an occasional newsletter for existing customers, usually with useful product (care) information, or with special offers.

Please also be assured that we do not pass on your details to other retailers. You are in no danger of receiving a tonne more of junk mail as a result of buying from us. (See also 'You've got (junk) mail'.)
