Wishing you "pingan" is a common phrase to use at the end of a Chinese letter. We digitized "ping-an" (peace) to make this embroidery design measuring about 5cm x 9cm to decorate a little tote bag, complemented by a bit of blue check fabric on the reverse side.
The bag measures about 25cm (wide) by 26.5cm (tall), or just under 10" by just over 10". The handle is about 25cm long (just under 10"). The sides are double-seamed for strength.
The fabric was hand-dyed and hand-loomed by members of the KV Kuppam co-operative in India. The fabric is certified Fairtrade. Buying from the co-operative supports traditional skills in the village and helps to reduce rural-urban migration.
